OUR MISSION-VISION STATEMENT:
The Casa Maria Prayer Community (CMPC) is a group of laymen and laywomen who believe in PRAYER
as a way of life and who proclaim the GOOD NEWS OF SALVATION to one another.
A BRIEF HISTORY
It all started in January 3, 1973, when Fr. Bernard of Jesus-Mary, OCD,
invited 12 members of the Secular Order of Carmel (OCDS), to experience,
in "silence", God's Presence in their hearts.
The ultimate goal of which would be "union with God", more than meditative or discursive
prayer… listening in silence.
This form of prayer,
patterned after St. Teresa of Avila's teachings, became the mode of prayer, practiced by
the members, with special emphasis on the qualities of "propio conocimiento" (self-knowledge),
and "buen entendimiento" (good sense).
In the
31 years
of its existence, we have discovered that the Carmelite Spirituality and Prayer is a lifestyle
that a lay person, who is searching for a deeper meaning and direction in his life, will be able
to fully embrace and blossom into their true identity, in WHOLENESS and INTEGRATION of one's self
in Christ.
Listening to God's Will… to our unconscious…
to fully appreciate our humanity in
bodymindfeelingspirit,
with one part affecting the whole being at any given time.
Through the years, most of our members have experienced a change in
their lives for the better… learning to accept things as they are, knowing that God is in
full control, growing in awareness of His Presence in our life through the "Amazing Coincidences"
which manifest His Divine Providence… developing a gentle spirit, being more aware of others
quietly, prayerfully. Healings have taken place here, not only to our members, but also to
those who have asked for prayers from the community.
OUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE
Now on our
31st year, we would like to share this "prayer experience"
to those who are searching for an "inner peace" in their hearts, and to put some order in their
lives, hoping to achieve fullness of their existence.
With a generous donation of a piece of land by members and donors, we are constructing a Spiritual
Center for Asia where we can reach out to a greater number of people, to share the wealth of
Carmelite Spirituality, through the teachings of Carmelite Saints who manifest the acts of Faith,
Hope and Love in their lives… great exemplars for our journey toward our main goal,
ONENESS WITH GOD.
But we cannot do this alone. Our vision to share
contemplation in the journey toward inner serenity and personal integration cannot come
into fruition without your help. We appeal for your generosity in the hope that our dream of
sharing Carmel's wealth to our part of the world has touched your heart and resonated in your spirit the same yearning to
share God's gifts and graces to more people.
